Day 2

My most favorite song in the whole world is
In My Daughter's Eyes by Martina McBride.

In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
It's hangin' on when your heart
has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes

This song came out when I was a teenager and it has always made me think of my mom and me, she's my very best friend.
But now that I'm this little dark eyed beauty's mom, the song means even more.  Both of KayCee's biological parents are severely mentally handicapped.  They warned us when she was a tiny baby to watch and make sure she was meeting her milestones.  I breathed sighs of relief when she sat up on her own, crawled for the first time, took her first step, and spoke her first word.  She was a little slow at doing these things, but not below average.  When she was about 3 we realized that things just weren't clicking in her little brain.  We had her tested and she was put in Special Education Preschool.  Now at age 6, she is in the 1st grade, she is still in Special Education, but she LOVES going to Mainstream!  The older she gets the more apparent it is that she is behind, especially when I see other kids her age.  Everyone loves KayCee, though.  She has a way of lighting up the room when she walks in.  She can also be the naughtiest 6 year-old you'd ever want to meet, and make you want to tear your hair out!  But she for sure has everyone that loves her wrapped around her little finger.

I love both of my children more than anything in the world!  I'm SO blessed to be their mom.  My life would not be complete without either of them!
